I joined Toastmasters back in 2007 because my supervisor at work explained that we were starting a corporate club at work.  I liked the meetings but wanted more from Toastmasters than that club offered.

I found another member that lived close to me, so we joined forces to start the process of forming a new community club. With the help of two seasoned Toastmasters who are also great people, we were able to successful charter a club! I continued my Toastmasters knowledge and overall leadership education from Donna Tasker and Mike Harris – I gained so much from them! In fact, they encouraged me to try different leadership positions, first at the club level, then, as AD, onto Division Director, and this year, as the D45 Program Quality Director.

Without their help, I wouldn’t have had the courage or fortitude to try leadership in Toastmasters. Of course, I have thanked them, but the best way to show my appreciation is to “pay it forward” and share what they taught me and try to become a mentor for other future leaders. The experiences I’ve had, the leaders I’ve met, and the knowledge I’ve gained has made my Toastmasters leadership journey a fun and enjoyable one – why not give it a try?
